about

A work recorded in December 2023.

The previous work, "Shakkei Summer" was the title of Daysuke Takaoka's first solo CD (released in 2012, now available as a digital download on Bandcamp).
In December 2023, I decided to hole up in a huge abandoned house in Hyogo Prefecture, conduct repeated recording experiments, and release a new album in the same series for the first time in 12 years. (English notation changed slightly)

(shakkei, sahckey) Borrowed landscape refers to a Japanese landscaping method that uses distant scenery as if it were part of the garden.
I recorded the work by simultaneously recording field recordings and my own tuba improvisations, in the sense of a ``borrowed soundscape.''

In the previous album's ``Summer'' season, many rich sounds emitted by the pulse of life, various living things, and changes in nature were recorded along with the sound of the tuba.
In this recording of ``Winter'', there are few sounds that give you that sense of life. However, inside this is the cold winter air of the countryside, the sounds of the few creatures making noises, and the cutting cold wind (in Japan, such wind is called ``Kogarashi = wind that kills trees''). The melancholy sound that shakes the building remains.

Recording was done in one-point stereo using 32-bit float recording equipment. I converted the file to 48khz/24bit and did not do any processing other than minimal size adjustment and volume control.

The first song, "heya," was recorded as a continuous performance for over 40 minutes to challenge the limits of my concentration, but I couldn't fit it into the capacity of one song on bandcamp, so I had no choice but to play it on side A. I uploaded them separately to and B.
If possible, I would like all songs to be played consecutively.

recorded at Ono,Hyogo Japan.
